It is getting cold here in the mountains of Colorado. We live at 10,200 feet and it is below freezing every night. To escape from the inevitable winter temps, we drive 4 hours to the desert in Utah. There it is a beautiful 70+ degrees and we can hike and mountain bike to our hearts content. The desert is filled with unusual botany that we are unused to seeing. Some desert flowers present themselves for viewing. They are incredibly luscious and varied in their colors. The current painting is one where I try to capture their beauty in oil paints. This original painting has SOLD! Fine Art Oil Painting: The Blue Boxes
This is a tryptich oil and acrylic painting. I was in a blue mood and missing the ocean. All of my life I have lived on the ocean except for a brief 2 year stint in Paris and now. Living in Colorado, I'm surrounded by frozen water, that at least I can ride, but sometimes I miss a nice fresh dunk in salt water. This painting is on 3 canvases that measure 12 x 36. It is varnished and the sides are painted black. This original painting, plus giclees and note cards, are for sale on my website at http://www.laurabarat.com/.
